Hello
Sylvia Valdez is a Los Angeles-based creative working in marketing and PR within the beauty industry, where she advocates for inclusive storytelling and representation. Alongside her professional work, she is pursuing photography projects that explore identity, generational memory, and the underrepresented experiences of women of color. Her images aim to capture the quiet, often unseen moments that deserve visibility—and to help reshape how beauty and strength are defined.
My Story
With a background in communications and years of experience in the beauty industry, I’ve built my career in marketing, public relations, and brand storytelling—amplifying product launches, managing influencer partnerships, and crafting campaigns that resonate. But beneath the surface of trend reports and brand decks, I’ve always been drawn to more intimate, lasting forms of storytelling. That’s where photography came in.
As a first-generation Latina navigating both the creative and corporate world, I’ve often noticed who gets left out of the frame—especially in spaces tied to beauty and visibility. My photography is an ongoing effort to reclaim space, reflect real experiences, and build a more representative visual language.
Outside of work, I find joy in baking, birdwatching, yoga, and meditation—slower practices that ground me and often inspire my creative process. Whether I’m capturing a quiet portrait or planning a brand campaign, I carry a deep commitment to intentional storytelling, cultural nuance, and making people feel seen.
